She looks a little embarrassed. All the people who have come to the Maison Suisse in Paris and are shouting "Zoé" with their cell phone cameras out - they have come for her, for Zoé Claessens, who made Swiss sporting history on Friday evening with her bronze medal in BMX racing. It is the first medal ever that Switzerland can celebrate in this spectacular sport.

"I'm very happy," says Claessens as she stands on the podium and dictates a few sentences into a microphone. She started BMX because she enjoyed it, says the 23-year-old from Vaud. The then seven-year-old had no thoughts of winning an Olympic medal. It was only later, when she was able to continuously improve her level, that she realized that she could take part in the most important sporting event in the world. "The fact that I could even win a medal now is like a dream."
