Almost four weeks after her serious fall in the final training run for the women's World Cup downhill in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Czech skier Tereza Nova has awoken from an induced coma.
Tereza Nova's condition is now so stable that she can be transported from the Murnau Accident Clinic to the Czech Republic. This was announced by the Czech Ski Association on Thursday.
Under the supervision of specialists, the 27-year-old will undergo further examinations and a subsequent rehabilitation phase in her home country.
The speed specialist, who has never been able to finish in the points in the World Cup, suffered a severe traumatic brain injury with bleeding, an injury to the carotid artery and a fracture of the eye socket in her fall on the Kandahar piste on January 24. Due to the severity of the injuries, the doctors had to put her into an artificial sleep.
