Andrea Epp-Ellenberger is ending her career with immediate effect. The 32-year-old giant slalom specialist made the announcement on her Instagram channel on Sunday.
The reason for her retirement is the numerous injuries she has sustained during her career. Among other things, Epp-Ellenberger suffered a torn cruciate ligament four times. In December 2024, she also broke her lower leg in a training fall. She has been out of action ever since.
Epp-Ellenberger competed in 53 World Cup races, 48 of them in the giant slalom. Her best rankings in an individual competition came in Kronplatz 2019 and Sölden 2020, when she finished eleventh in both races. She finished 10th at the 2019 World Championships in Are.
