Young Boys are back in the thick of the championship race. After their 1-0 win at Servette, they are now just two points behind the Super League leaders from Geneva.

YB were also able to put forward their two best arguments of recent weeks in Geneva: their defense and Christian Fassnacht. The latter made all the difference at the Stade de Genève when he headed Filip Ugrinic's corner into the net four minutes before the break.

The efficiency of the 19-time Swiss international since his return to YB has been decisive in the Bernese team's comeback. The Zurich native has scored his side's last four goals and has now scored six times since the winter break - the same number as during his one-and-a-half-year intermezzo at Norwich.

And when Fassnacht scores under coach Giorgio Contini, it becomes difficult for the opposition. As vulnerable as YB's defense was in the first half of the season, it has been solid since the former assistant to national team coach Murat Yakin took charge of the tactics. YB have only conceded five goals in their last twelve Super League games.

However, Servette caused the Swiss champions' defense, which had to make do without the injured Loris Benito from the 38th minute onwards, to falter on several occasions. Miroslav Stevanovic was the unlucky man of the evening. He missed the 1:0 in the opening phase due to a very close offside position and then hit the edge of the goal twice.

Servette's second defeat since the beginning of the year, the second in a row in front of their own fans, could see them lose their leading position on Thursday to FC Basel, who will host Grasshoppers at the end of the 30th round.
