With the sixth draw in a row, FC Aarau ensured a first in the history of the Challenge League. The unwanted record could have been avoidable for the promotion hopefuls. FCA took a 2-1 lead in the 85th minute through 19-year-old Dorian Derbaci, who had come on as a substitute shortly beforehand, but were unable to hold on.
In stoppage time, Vaduz defender Denis Simani put a damper on things for the majority of the 7,000-plus spectators at the Brügglifeld. The former Lucerne player had already scored midway through the first half to make it 1-0. Denis Acquah made it 1-1 for Aarau shortly after the break, with Sofian Bahloul and Raul Bobadilla missing excellent chances to score further Aarau goals.
FC Thun are benefiting from FC Aarau's slump in form, having celebrated nine wins before their six draws. The leaders can extend their lead over Aarau to six points with a home win against Wil on Easter Monday at the end of the 31st round.
Third-placed Etoile Carouge were unable to capitalize on Aarau's draw. The Geneva side lost 2-0 at home to bottom-placed Schaffhausen, who are coached by Hakan Yakin and moved to within two points of Nyon, who lost 2-1 at Bellinzona.
