Good news for the Swiss national ice hockey team: star striker Kevin Fiala is traveling to Denmark to strengthen the World Championship team. The association announced this on Instagram.

The Los Angeles Kings player still had a few things to sort out after being knocked out of the playoffs, but is now on his way to Europe. The MVP of the last World Championship, when Switzerland only lost in the final, makes the team much stronger.

It remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old from eastern Switzerland will play against the USA on Monday. With four points from the first two games against the defending champions Czech Republic and Denmark, national coach Patrick Fischer is under no pressure to rush Fiala into action. The Swiss have Tuesday and Wednesday off.

This will be Fiala's seventh World Cup, he was a member of the Swiss silver medal teams both in 2018 and a year ago.
