Starting from sixth position, Müller held back for long stretches of the 38-lap race. In doing so, he decisively saved energy, which was still available to him in the final phase.

In the end, the 34-year-old driver from the Bernese Oberland, who has been driving for Porsche since this season, triumphed with a lead of more than four seconds over New Zealander Nick Cassidy.

Müller's emotional day

"It was a great day. I would like to thank Porsche for putting their trust in me. It is also a great honor to drive this car here in Berlin at Porsche's 75th motorsport anniversary and in front of these spectators. My family is also here, my son, my daughter and also my wife. I'm a bit emotional right now," said a delighted Müller in the winner's interview.

Behind Briton Oliver Rowland, Edoardo Mortara in the Mahindra finished in 4th place. The Genevan, who started from pole position, took the lead in the overall standings ahead of German Pascal Wehrlein, the 2024 Formula E champion and third in the last championship.

Third overall after maiden victory

His Porsche team-mate Müller moved up to third place thanks to his maiden victory shortly before the halfway point of the season. The third Swiss Formula E driver, Sébastien Buemi (Envision), finished twelfth in the seventh race of the season without scoring any points and is still ninth overall.

Another race will take place in Berlin on Sunday afternoon.
