Lausanne-Sport are the team of the moment in the Super League. Coach Ludovic Magnin's team celebrated their fourth win in a row with a 1-0 victory over Servette in an attractive match.
Servette would have overtaken FC Zurich as leaders again with a three-pointer. However, this prospect seemed to paralyze Geneva more, as Lausanne was clearly the better team on the pitch for a long time in front of 11,274 spectators. Noë Dussenne scored the only goal of the game in the 17th minute with a penalty, after Geneva defender Steve Rouiller was caught out by the lively Alvyn Sanches.
The Vaud team, who were much stronger in terms of tackling, then created several good chances to increase the lead to 2:0. In the 30th minute, for example, Dussenne failed to hit the ball properly from the best position after a corner kick by Fousseni Diabate. In the 75th minute, Gaël Ondoua blocked a shot from Sanches, who would otherwise have scored.
The lack of efficiency did not pay off in the end. Servette came up with far too little for a long time. It was only at the end that the visitors fought back against defeat. In the 85th minute, Ondoua headed just wide of the goal, and in the 92nd minute, Rouiller missed a good chance with his head while completely free. Before that, Geneva had only managed two harmless shots at Lausanne keeper Karlo Letica's goal.
It was Lausanne's second win in their last nine matches against Servette, who suffered their first defeat in the championship after five wins and three draws.
