A 26-year-old freerider fell 300 meters down a cliff on Piz Corwatsch GR on Tuesday afternoon. He was rescued by helicopter, but died despite resuscitation.

The wife of the Italian, who lives in Switzerland, alerted Rega when the freerider did not turn up at the meeting point at the Corvatsch middle station as agreed, the Graubünden cantonal police reported on Wednesday.
The helicopter crew was then able to locate the man in steep terrain away from the piste. They rescued the man with the cable winch and resuscitated him. However, the 26-year-old died on the spot.
