Fribourg-Gottéron is the team of the moment in the National League. The 5-3 win in Geneva against Servette is their eighth win in a row and cements their 2nd place.
Fribourg-Gottéron had won many games narrowly in the last week, no less than five of them in overtime or penalty shoot-outs. In Geneva, on the other hand, the Fribourg team made sure the situation was clear early on. Between the 8th and 19th minute, Canadian Ty Rattie scored his first goal in his third game since moving to Switzerland, Christoph Bertschy scored his ninth goal while shorthanded in the National League and Henrik Borgström scored the decisive goals from 1:1 to 4:1.
After a goalless middle third, three more goals were scored in the final period, but Servette could not get any closer than two goals.
With this convincing win, Fribourg distanced themselves from a direct rival in the battle for 2nd place. Roger Rönnberg's team will regret the fact that they only have two games left before the Olympic break - against Kloten on Friday and the top-of-the-table clash with leaders Davos on Sunday.
