The Galà dei Castelli in Bellinzona will not take place this year. The organizers are cancelling the athletics meeting planned for Tuesday, 8 July.

In their announcement, the organizers cite financial reasons for the cancellation. Cantonal taxes in particular are no longer affordable. The organizers not only have to pay tax on entry fees and prize money, but now also on smaller items such as travel allowances or contributions to accommodation, transport and meals.
Under these circumstances, the Galà dei Castelli can no longer compete with other national and international competitions, the organizers conclude, and regret the damage to the image of the region and the Swiss Athletics Association. This would have been the 15th edition of the meeting.
