The Grasshoppers let a 2-0 lead slip away against Winterthur. Tibault Citherlet secured a point for the visitors with his header in the 92nd minute to make it 2-2.
"We have to win," GC coach Gerald Scheiblehner had demanded in the run-up to the match against Winterthur. And for a long time, it looked as if his players were putting their money where their mouth was. With another very young team - eight players in the starting line-up were between 19 and 22 years old - the Grasshoppers put in a good performance for long stretches in the cantonal derby and came very close to their first championship victory.
The two players on loan from Bayern Munich were responsible for the goals. In the 12th minute, 19-year-old Jonathan Asp Jensen won a running duel with his opponent and put the home team ahead. In the 60th minute, 20-year-old Lovro Zvonarek held his nerve in front of goal and slotted home to make it 2-0. The final pass was made both times by 20-year-old Samuel Marques, a player from the home team's own youth ranks.
Silvan Sidler's goal in the 68th minute came out of nowhere and brought tension back into the game. Before the equalizer in stoppage time, Remo Buess had already come close to making it 2-2 with a free kick against the post.
From GC's point of view, it was one standard situation too many in the end: after a corner kick, Tibault Citherlet, also only 20 years old, was spot on and ensured that FC Winterthur's unbeaten streak against GC was extended. The Grasshoppers have not won against FCW in eight matches.
