Valérie Grenier leads the final World Cup giant slalom of the winter in Hafjell after the first run. Emma Aicher in intermediate position 3 is keeping up the pressure on Mikaela Shiffrin in the overall World Cup.

Aicher is 85 points behind the American. The 22-year-old would have to win the race and Shiffrin would have to score a "zero" at the same time for the pendulum to swing in the German's favor in the battle for the big globe. At the halfway point, Aicher is 26 hundredths behind the leading Canadian Grenier, who is two hundredths behind Hector. Shiffrin is just 1.55 seconds behind in 17th place. Points are only awarded to the top 15 in the season finale.

Camille Rast, the best of the Swiss trio, lost 0.77 seconds on the leader and is around half a second off the podium in 7th place. Vanessa Kasper has her sights set on her first career top 10 result in 9th place. Wendy Holdener lost a lot of time after a mistake and is at the bottom of the intermediate rankings.

The second run starts at 12.30 pm.
