In the second of two giant slaloms in Sestriere, the top skiers are very close together after the first run. Lara Gut-Behrami is in lurking position in second place.
Gut-Behrami showed a clear improvement the day after her elimination. After half a run, the skier from Ticino is only six hundredths behind the previous day's runner-up Alice Robinson from New Zealand.
Canadian Britt Richardson surprisingly follows in third place (0.07 seconds behind). Federica Brignone has excellent prospects of winning for the second time in 24 hours. The Italian giant slalom world champion finished fourth, just twelve hundredths behind the half-time leader.
With 7th place, slalom world champion Camille Rast (0.56 back) also created a good starting position for the second run (start at 14:00). Wendy Holdener lost just under 1.5 seconds to Robinson. The racer from Schwyz is classified in 19th place after 30 racers have started.
