The Swiss slalom racers are showing significant improvement. At the second World Cup in Gurgl, Wendy Holdener and Camille Rast are in joint 3rd place after the first run.

After the disappointment a week ago in Levi, a reaction was needed - and Wendy Holdener and Camille Rast delivered. In the first run, the Swiss duo were only beaten by Mikaela Shiffrin and Lara Colturi. The two had already taken the first two places in Levi.

The significant improvement in performance from Holdener and Rast - 8th and 15th respectively in Levi - is not all that surprising. The challenging and significantly steeper slope in the Tyrolean Ötztal suits them much better than the piste in the north of Finland. Holdener and Rast lost 48 hundredths to the American Shiffrin and only 17 hundredths to the Italian Colturi, who is competing for Albania. Behind them lurked the German Lena Dürr and the second American Paula Moltzan, who were already slightly further behind.

However, the Swiss skiers were not convincing in the overall standings. Mélanie Meillard was already eliminated in the upper part of the course, Eliane Christen lost 3.64 seconds and therefore has to worry about qualifying for the second run. However, there are still seven other Swiss-Ski racers with numbers over 30 at the start.
