Winterthur suffer a setback after their upward trend in recent games. The Zurich side lose 3-1 at home to Sion.
It should have been a small series after the win against Lausanne-Sport and the late point at Grasshoppers. It turned out to be the tenth defeat in the 16th Super League game and the conceded goals 33 to 35.
The tragic figure for Winterthur was captain Granit Lekaj. The defender deflected Ilyas Chouaref's shot to make it 0:1 (25th minute) with his backside, sank a foul penalty after the break to make it 1:1 (54th) and ten minutes later failed to clear Théo Berdayes' follow-up shot to make it 1:2 with his foot. Unlike at 0:1, he was not powerless this time.
Sion's third goal, which finally put FCW back on the losing track after the win against Lausanne-Sport and the late point at Grasshoppers on Sunday, was scored by Joël Schmied just three minutes after the 2-1.
It was only the second win in the last twelve league games for the Valais side, who created an eight-point cushion to the barrage place, and the second away victory after the 2-1 win at Young Boys at the start of the season. They were clearly the better side in the first half in particular, scoring after just 50 seconds through Berdayes and responding to the equalizer after a push from Ali Kabacalman on Matteo Di Giusto.
