The Formula 1 World Championship will be decided in Abu Dhabi on Sunday between Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. Only Norris can become world champion on his own.

The calculation for the championship leader in the season finale is simple: if he finishes on the podium in the 24th and final Grand Prix of the year, he will be world champion for the first time.
With 408 points, Norris still has the title in his own hands. The Englishman in the McLaren goes into the race with a twelve-point lead over defending champion Max Verstappen (396), with Piastri (392) in close pursuit.

... he finishes on the podium.
... he finishes fourth or fifth and Verstappen finishes second at best.
... he finishes sixth or seventh and neither Verstappen nor Piastri win.
... he finishes eighth and Verstappen at most third and Piastri does not win.
... he finishes ninth and Verstappen at most fourth and Piastri does not win.
... he finishes tenth or worse and Verstappen finishes at most fourth and Piastri at most third.
Verstappen becomes world champion if...
... he wins and Norris finishes no higher than fourth.
... he finishes second and Norris at most eighth and Piastri does not win.
