Tanja Hüberli/Nina Brunner put in a class performance in the Olympic tournament. The pair from Schwyz and Zug beat the German duo Laura Ludwig/Louisa Lippmann 21:9, 21:15 in just 33 minutes.
Former world-class indoor player Lippmann and Ludwig, the 2016 Olympic champion, were already under pressure after their clear opening defeat against Alexia Richard/Lézana Placette. The French women - Hüberli/Brunner's next opponents on Saturday afternoon - were considered to be the weakest ranked duo in the group. After another clear victory, the two-time European champions from Switzerland are now very close to winning the group.
The second Swiss duo, Esmée Böbner/Zoé Vergé-Dépré, will face Canada's Melissa Humana-Paredes/Brandie Wilkerson in the evening.
