The ice hockey championship qualifiers come to an end in a week's time on Monday. The race for the play-in places is getting more and more exciting.
Almost everything is clear at the top: HC Davos, who once again lost 2-0 at home to Kloten on Saturday after eight wins (and can therefore no longer break the points record in the National League), have been confirmed as the qualification winners. Gottéron, the ZSC Lions and Lugano are also seeded for the play-offs; Lausanne and Servette will also punch their ticket in the next few days.
However, the play-in places are becoming increasingly tight, primarily because the SCL Tigers, who have been in the top 10 all season so far, have only won one of their last eight games. On Saturday, the Langnau team celebrated their only championship title, which they won exactly 50 years ago to the day. What followed the great honor for the former champion team was less pleasing from the Emmental's point of view: the game against the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers was lost 3:4 despite a comeback from 0:3 to 3:3.
As a result, the Emmental team dropped out of the top ten for the first time this season. Biel, who prevailed 3:2 in Bern, overtook the SCL Tigers. Kloten (12th), who set a strong example with their 2-0 win in Davos, are also back within striking distance of 10th place (Biel). And SC Bern (9th), who are just two points ahead of Langnau (11th), still have no games in hand after the regular season.
In the other games, Lausanne won 4:1 in Lugano, while the ZSC Lions lost another home game against Servette 2:3. EV Zug beat Ambri-Piotta 4:1.
Results:
Bern - Biel 2:3 (2:2, 0:0, 0:1). Davos - Kloten 0:2 (0:1, 0:1, 0:0). Lugano - Lausanne 1:4 (0:2, 0:1, 1:1). SCL Tigers - Rapperswil-Jona Lakers 3:4 (0:1, 1:2, 2:1). ZSC Lions - Genève-Servette 2:3 (2:1, 0:1, 0:1). Zug - Ambri-Piotta 4:1 (0:0, 2:1, 2:0).
