The Swiss men's team wins three medals in one competition at the World Shooting Championships in Cairo. The women, on the other hand, came away empty-handed.
Jan Lochbihler and Fabio Wyrsch hit the bull's eye so precisely in the 50 m prone with the small bore rifle that they took silver and bronze after 60 shots. Together with Christoph Dürr's 15th place, this was enough for silver in the team ranking behind China. With a total of 1880.5 points, the gap to gold was just 0.8 points. Both the individual and the team competition are not Olympic.
Gold in the individual event went to Austria's Alexander Schmirl with 629.1 points - the highest score on the ten-point target is 10.9, Schmirl achieved an average of 10.485. Lochbihler scored 628.1 points, the Swiss record he holds is 631.3.
The Swiss women, who had clearly performed better than their teammates in the Olympic three-position match, did not get up to speed on Friday. Emely Jäggi (16th/620.7), Nina Christen (24th/619.5) and Vivien Jäggi (27th/619.3) had to make do with 6th place in the team ranking.
The Swiss delegation has won six medals so far at the championships in Cairo.
