Marcel Hirscher's comeback is over for the time being. The Austrian, who competes for the Netherlands, tore a cruciate ligament in giant slalom training.

Marcel Hirscher confirmed the cruciate ligament rupture with a video on Instagram showing how he injured himself on the Reiteralm. "The last run of the season. What remains is the love of skiing," commented Hirscher. The 35-year-old slipped on a right-hand turn, didn't fall, but immediately grabbed his left knee. "Cruciate ligament gone, project over," Hirscher continued on Instagram.

Hirscher had returned to the World Cup in recent weeks, four years after his official retirement.
