Lugano remain in pole position for the final 3rd place in the Super League. The Ticino side salvaged a 2-2 draw at direct rivals Sion with a goal from Papadopoulos shortly before the end.

Sion were somewhat unlucky to miss out on their sixth win in a row. The Valais side were the better team in the second half against Lugano and turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead within eight minutes through Ilyas Chouaref, who now has 16 goals to his name, and Baltazar. The Brazilian Baltazar's goal in the 63rd minute was particularly impressive. He took a pass on the edge of the penalty area directly with the outside of his foot and curled the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of Lugano keeper David von Ballmoos, who had no chance.

Lugano, who had made it 1:0 in the first half through Georgios Koutsias, rarely looked like equalizing. A double chance from Kevin Behrens at the start of the final quarter of an hour was the best the Luganesi could muster until the 90th minute, when German defender Papadopoulos was on hand to dust down a shot from Elias Pihlström and a save from Anthony Racioppi to make it 2-2.

In order to move up to 3rd place in the final round on Sunday, Sion will need a win at Young Boys and a loss of points by Lugano at home to Basel. If Sion can only finish in 4th place, they will have to hope that St. Gallen win the cup to qualify for the European Cup for the first time since 2017.
