Lausanne-Sport had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Kuopio in Finland in the fifth and second-last round of the Conference League phase - but are on course for the round of 16.
Lausanne dominated the game in the far north and basically created enough chances to win, but were too inefficient in front of goal. Gaossou Diakité came closest to scoring in Tampere, but failed to hit the post after just over an hour.
At the other end, Kuopio were rarely dangerous in front of Karlo Letica's box. A supposed foul penalty was rescinded by the Ukrainian referee after VAR intervention. In the final phase, both teams lacked the strength and absolute will to score a lucky punch.
Lausanne can probably live better with the draw than Kuopio, who remain two points behind the Vaud team. In the final round, coach Peter Zeidler's team will face Fiorentina at home in a week's time. One point will definitely be enough to advance to the round of 16, and with a bit of luck in the other games, they can even afford to lose.
Eight teams will reach the round of 16 directly, another 16 the round of 16.
