Lausanne continues its run in the National League with its sixth win in a row. The facts of Friday's games.
Lausanne had to fight hard for their sixth win in a row in the away game against Ajoie. Killian Mottet equalized for the home team 70 seconds before the end of regulation time to make it 3-3. In the last minute of overtime, however, Drake Caggiula gave the visitors a chance to celebrate. The Canadian had already made it 1:1 in the 18th minute. Ahti Oksanen was credited with an assist when Théo Rochette made it 2:1 for LHC (22'), thus securing a scoring point for the ninth game in a row. It was Rochette's 17th goal of the season.
Davos wins thanks to Dahlbeck
Davos have never lost more than two games in a row this season and for the time being it stayed that way: The Grisons responded to the defeats against the ZSC Lions (2:3 n.p.) and Fribourg-Gottéron (0:4) with a 3:2 win after overtime in Bern. The early 1:0 by Filip Zadina (3rd), who scored for the 15th time this season, was preceded by a mistake by Alexander Jakowenko - the SCB defenseman was too hesitant at the opposing blue line. The home team was unlucky when Tino Kessler made it 2-0 (29'), as defender Romain Loeffel unfortunately deflected the puck into his own goal. However, the Bernese were not discouraged by this and managed to save themselves in overtime thanks to goals from Simon Kindschi and Marco Lehmann - the two scored within 54 seconds of each other in the 54th minute. The decisive 3:2 for Davos was scored by defender Klas Dahlbeck in the 63rd minute, with SCB goalie Sandro Zurkirchen not cutting the best figure. The Bernese had won all of their previous three home games.
A feast for the fans
Ambri-Piotta and Fribourg-Gottéron offered the spectators an extremely attractive game, which ended 6:5 after overtime in favor of the visitors. The score was 2:2 after less than five minutes, with Fribourg taking a 2:0 lead within 105 seconds thanks to goals from Julien Sprunger and Attilio Biasca. But Daniele Grassi with his first goal of the season and Christopher Tierney only needed 64 seconds to equalize for the Leventines. After 48 minutes it was 5:5 - the rest of the game was 3:2, 3:4, 5:4. 3:2 for Ambri was a short-handed goal by Diego Kostner (13th), and Tierney scored for the second time in this game at 5:4. The goal for Gottéron's fourth win in a row was scored by Michael Kapla on the power play (64.). Ambri had previously beaten Fribourg four times in a row in front of their home crowd.
Zug still unblemished this week
The game against Biel was Zug's third home game in four days and once again the central Swiss team came away victorious, winning 2-0. Biel came close to taking the lead before the first goal, whereupon Zug switched gears at lightning speed: Dominik Schlumpf launched Grégory Hofmann with a superb pass, who finished ice-cold alone in front of Biel keeper Harri Säteri. In the 46th minute, Sven Senteler increased the lead to 2:0 with his fourth goal in the last five games. Three minutes later, Jan Kovar ended a twelve-game goal drought with a 3:0. After Tomas Tatar's 4:0 (56.) at the latest, there was no longer any doubt about the outcome of the game. EVZ goalie Leonardo Genoni celebrated his fourth shutout in the current championship thanks to 34 saves. It was Biel's fifth defeat in the last six games.
Kloten this time thanks to a strong first period
In the first season duel between Kloten and the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, the Zurich team turned a 0:3 home deficit into a 5:3 in the final period. In the second home game against this opponent, a strong first period formed the basis for victory: Reto Schäppi (10th), Axel Simic (14th) and Max Lindroth (15th) gave Kloten a 3:0 lead before the first break. The hosts scored the 2:0 and 3:0 within 43 seconds in two different power plays. In the middle period, despite 21:4 shots on goal, the Lakers only managed to make it 1:3 through Gian-Marco Wetter, who scored just 14 seconds after the break. In the 47th minute, Rapperswil forward Nico Dünner underlined his good form with the 2:4 - he scored for the sixth game in a row. Petteri Puhakka provided the final point 44 seconds before the end with a shot into the empty net to make it 5:2.
Contrary to logic
Genève-Servette won twelve of their first 15 home games in the current championship. They had won four in a row against the SCL Tigers before Friday's clash. The omens were therefore clear. But things turned out differently: after the first period, the Emmental side were 2-0 up thanks to goals from Harri Pesonen (14th) and Juuso Riikola (19th). Although Servette reduced the deficit to 1:2 after 42 seconds in the final period, that was as close as Geneva got. In the final minute, Flavio Schmutz and Pesonen made it all clear for Langnau with two shots into the empty net. It was Pesonen's 23rd brace in the National League.
