On the day before the first of two international matches against Hungary in Biel, the "Patrick Fischer case" is once again the focus of attention at the ice hockey association's media day.

Slowly, however, calm should return, because "we want to prepare for a home World Championship". The players said this over and over again on Wednesday in Biel. The Patrick Fischer affair should not have driven a wedge into the team - and neither should the letter from Roman Josi, in which the captain called for Fischer to be reinstated. This letter, which is "intended exclusively for internal use" (quote from Josi's letter), was leaked to the media on Tuesday.

"We discussed the affair a lot last week in Slovakia, also with the players from the NHL. I knew about Josi's plans. He assured me personally that the statements in the letter were not directed at me," said national team coach Jan Cadieux, who appeared before the media as head coach for the first time on Wednesday in Biel.

According to Cadieux, Lian Bichsel of the Dallas Stars is still not an issue. Bichsel has been excluded from the national team by various people and committees until after the home World Championships, and he will continue to abide by this decision, said Cadieux.

Bichsel is still involved with Dallas in the NHL playoff round of 16 (the series against the Minnesota Wild is tied 1-1).
