Galatasaray Istanbul, who are leading the championship at home, confirmed their extraordinary home strength. Mario Lemina scored the winning goal in the 7th minute to make it 1-0. The Turkish side had already beaten Liverpool FC 1:0 in the league phase. Galatasaray have won 33 of their last 46 home games, losing only two.
The second leg will take place at Anfield Road in a week's time on Wednesday.
