Lucerne started the game with a lot of momentum, but lacked the necessary precision for a long time. It was to their advantage that they played with one man more from the 74th minute onwards - St. Gallen newcomer Antonio Verinac, who had only come on as a substitute three minutes earlier, was shown the red card in the 74th minute after an elbow strike. Twelve minutes later, 20-year-old Oscar Kabwit reduced the deficit to 1:2 with his first goal in the Super League, before Andrej Vasovic scored the much-acclaimed 2:2 in stoppage time.

Although Vogt signed a four-year contract with the eastern Swiss club in July 2025, he has an exit clause with a fixed transfer fee of CHF 2.5 million.
Due to the late equalizer, St. Gallen still have to wait for their first win in Lucerne since 1 December 2019. They have now gone winless at FCL for the eleventh game in a row - losing six times.
