Lugano traveled to Yverdon with four defeats from the last five games. The slump in form of Mattia Croci-Torti's team was also palpable in Vaud. However, a disciplined performance was enough to secure the win this time, which could possibly relaunch Lugano's season. The former leaders will have to prove it next Sunday in Basel.
Anto Grgic made it 1:0 with a penalty in the 37th minute at Yverdon Sport, who had recently been convincing and remained unbeaten in four games - a solitary highlight in a weak first half. The game only picked up a little after the break. Shkelqim Vladi scored in the middle of the hosts' best phase at the start of the final quarter of an hour to decide the game.
Lugano are now just three points behind leaders Servette.
