Lugano defeats Ajoie 2:0. Calvin Thürkauf decides the game in the final minutes with his 9th and 10th goals of the season.
Thürkauf first deflected a shot from Jiri Sekac from an acute angle in the 52nd minute. 54 seconds before the end, Thürkauf made sure of victory with a shot into the empty net to make it 2:0.
After a lousy series with just two wins from eight rounds, Lugano kept its chance to make a difference in the final week and in the last few games. Lugano ends the regular season with games in Geneva and at home against Biel. Uwe Krupp's team can still pick up 69 points. This means that Servette (12th), the Lakers (11th) and Biel (10th) can still be overtaken.
For the time being, however, Lugano remains in 13th place, two points behind Servette. If Lugano loses to Servette in Geneva on Tuesday, the Ticino team will have to play Ajoie again in the relegation play-off.
