The championship race in England is completely open again. Manchester City's 2:1 home win in the 33rd round of the Premier League against leaders Arsenal saw them close to within three points of the Londoners.
Manchester City have played one game less and would be level on points with Arsenal with a win against Crystal Palace in the as yet unscheduled supplementary fixture. The leaders currently have the better goal difference by one goal.
Rayan Cherki (16) and Erling Haaland (65) scored for Manchester City in Sunday's top-of-the-table clash. Arsenal had equalized through Kai Havertz after a mistake by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. It was the German's first Premier League goal in over a year. Havertz missed two good opportunities to score again in the second half, including a header from an ideal position in the 90th minute.
A point from Arsenal would not have been stolen. After the break, the Gunners, who were last champions in 2004, not only had to lament Havertz's missed scoring chances, but also two shots at the post.
