Swiss whitewater canoeist Martin Dougoud qualified easily for the quarter-finals in the kayak cross.
Frenchman Boris Neveu and 33-year-old Martin Dougoud from Geneva left nothing to be desired in their round of 16 run. The world numbers 3 (Neveu) and 6 (Dougoud) kept Tunisian Salim Jemai and Croatian Matija Marinic at bay, although Dougoud briefly lost his grip on the rudder at the start. Jemai and Marinic are only ranked 147th and 425th in the world rankings.
The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in the kayak cross are all on the program on Monday.
