Loïc Meillard can hope for his third World Cup victory in the slalom in Kitzbühel. The 29-year-old Swiss skier goes into the second run in the lead.

Meillard, whose best result in Kitzbühel so far has been a 6th place, set a time in the snow with bib number 1 that nobody was able to beat afterwards. Finland's Eduard Hallberg and Norway's Henrik Kristoffersen came closest, losing 35 and 47 hundredths respectively to the world champion. Tanguy Nef is also part of the first chasing group in sixth place, 52 hundredths behind Meillard.

Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, on the other hand, lost over a second and is currently tied with Austrian Johannes Strolz in 11th place. Daniel Yule, who wants to take his last chance in Kitzbühel to fulfill the Olympic selection criteria, is right behind him.

The second run starts at 1.30 pm. This will take place without Atle Lie McGrath: The Norwegian, who had celebrated his second win of the season in Wengen the week before, dropped out.
