FC St. Gallen remained without points in Yverdon and missed the chance to move closer to the top of the Super League after two recent victories with a 1-0 draw.

FC St. Gallen were too cautious on the offensive against the relegation candidates. Against Yverdon's compact defense, the patient play of the eastern Swiss was understandable, but after just under an hour it became a mortgage because the visitors suddenly found themselves down to ten men. Defender Jozo Stanic was shown the red card after an emergency brake in his own penalty area.

The fatal incident for St. Gallen came almost out of nowhere. Otherwise, dangerous situations were rare on both sides. Yverdon only became more dangerous when they were outnumbered and scored the winner in the 92nd minute through new signing Antonio Marchesano. The former FCZ player reacted faster than the St. Gallen defense to a cross from Boris Cespedes from half field.
