Croatia captain Luka Modric's goal against Italy makes him the oldest goalscorer in European Championship history.
At the age of 38 years and 289 days, the midfielder replaced the previous record holder Ivica Vastic on Monday. The Austrian international was 38 years and 257 days old at the time of his goal against Poland at Euro 2008.
However, two Portuguese players could snatch the European Championship record away from the Real Madrid playmaker. Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is already over 39, while team-mate Pepe is 41 years old.
