Marco Odermatt is the best Swiss-Ski athlete in fourth place after half the race. The man from Nidwalden, who has won two out of three giant slaloms this season, lost 0.46 seconds on Stefan Brennsteiner's best time.

Immediately behind Odermatt, who has won all of the last four giant slaloms on the Face de Bellevarde piste, was Loïc Meillard (0.57 back). Thomas Tumler (7th), the third Swiss, has a good chance of making it into the top 3. The Grisons native is 0.77 seconds behind Brennsteiner.

The Norwegians Henrik Kristoffersen and Timon Haugan came closest to the leader from Austria, losing 0.28 and 0.33 seconds respectively. Luca Aerni also had a good run. The skier from Bern is in 13th position after 30 racers have started.

The second run starts at 13:00.
