Marco Odermatt is on course to win the first Super-G of the season in Copper Mountain, Colorado, after 30 racers. The man from Nidwalden leads ahead of Vincent Kriechmayr and Raphael Haaser.
Odermatt's lead over the two Austrians is just eight and 13 hundredths respectively. The best super-G skier of the past three years made the difference on the short and less demanding course with a solid run. Odermatt was not the fastest in any section, but he was at the finish. It would be the 28-year-old world champion's 47th World Cup victory, his 16th in the super-G.
The other Swiss racers were unable to get involved in the battle for the podium places. Stefan Rogentin is the second-best Swiss-Ski athlete in 7th place, 45 hundredths behind Haaser, who finished second in the World Championships. Franjo von Allmen in 9th place is the third Swiss athlete in the top 10.
Aleksander Kilde celebrated his comeback after almost two years of suffering. 683 days after his momentous crash in the downhill in Wengen, the 33-year-old Norwegian showed a solid run. He only lost 1.25 seconds to the leader Odermatt.
