Swiss-Ski is making adjustments to the management structure for cross-country skiing and biathlon. Overall responsibility will be borne by a discipline head and a junior head.

Rafael Ratti will be the new head of cross-country skiing and biathlon. The 41-year-old from the Engadin will join the Swiss association on May 1 from the Swiss Snowsports Association, where he works as Head of Training. Ratti was an active cross-country skier in the Swiss-Ski B squad. After retiring, he studied sports and exercise science before working for three years as a coach for the Liechtenstein Ski Association and - in the 2015/16 season as the person responsible for the second World Cup training group - for Swiss-Ski.

"Whether as an athlete, coach or trainer - Nordic skiing has always been a central part of my life," Ratti is quoted as saying in a press release from Swiss-Ski. "In my new role, I see my mission above all in sustainably developing the structures and the people who are involved in them."

Following the departure of Lukas Keel, Head of Biathlon since summer 2021, at the end of the season, Lars Brönnimann, Head of Cross-Country Skiing since fall 2022, will also be leaving Swiss-Ski. "After in-depth analysis, we have come to the joint decision to hand over overall responsibility for the sports of cross-country skiing and biathlon to new hands," says Walter Reusser, Co-CEO of Swiss-Ski.

Gion-Antieni Maissen will take over the new position of Head of Junior Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon. The 40-year-old from Graubünden was Head of Training at Swiss-Ski until fall 2023. Maissen will be responsible for the head coaches of the Swiss-Ski C squads in cross-country skiing and biathlon, the three newly created head coach positions in the Interregions West (Fabian Bieri), Central (Edi Zihlmann) and East (still vacant) as well as Selina Gasparin, who will be responsible for cross-country skiing/biathlon sports development.
