Sion bring a former Swiss international back to Switzerland. Pajtim Kasami has signed a contract with the struggling ninth-placed team in the Super League until 2026, as announced by the Valais club.
It is a return to Sion for the 32-year-old Kasami. The midfielder already played for Christian Constantin's club from 2017 to 2020 before being transferred to FC Basel. "Returning to Sion makes me proud. I had a very good time in Valais," says Kasami, who won the U17 World Cup with Switzerland in 2009. He scored 32 goals in 104 games for Sion.
Lucerne and Bellinzona were Kasami's other Swiss stations alongside Sion and Basel. The 12-time international also played in England (Fulham and Nottingham), Greece (Olympiakos Piraeus) and Italy (Palermo and Sampdoria Genoa). He has been under contract with Serie B club Sampdoria for the last year and a half. This season, however, he has rarely featured, playing his last game at the end of December.
Sion have picked up just one point in four Super League games since the winter break.
