One week before the start of the Tour de Romandie, the organizers present the route of the 79th edition. It is an "innovative" course that welcomes a very special debutant in Tadej Pogacar.

The Slovenian world champion and four-time Tour de France winner is the main attraction of the Tour of Western Switzerland. The dominator of world cycling shows his usual hunger for success: he is pursuing the goal of immortalizing every World Tour race in his palmarès. With this in mind, he will also be competing in the Tour de Suisse in June.

Pogacar's mission begins on Tuesday, April 28, in Villars-sur-Glâne with a traditional prologue. However, there will be no individual time trial this year. Instead, the route planners are relying on a mountain spectacle on the final weekend. The overall victory is likely to be decided on Saturday, when the peloton will have to conquer the Jaun Pass three times on the queen stage. The six-day tour ends on Sunday with the mountain arrival in Leysin.
