Robin Cuche is delighted to have won his fourth medal at the end of the Paralympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The 27-year-old from Neuchâtel takes bronze in the slalom in the standing category.
From 6th place at half-time - 0.94 seconds behind the podium places - Cuche moved up three positions in the final run. Previously, the Swiss athlete who excelled in northern Italy had won gold in the downhill and super-G and silver in the giant slalom.
Cuche lost 3.18 seconds to the superior slalom winner Alexei Bugayev from Russia, who is much stronger in the speed disciplines. Silver went to the New Zealander Adam Hall (2.83 back).
The other Swiss starters, for whom the slalom is also not their main discipline, lost a lot of time. Emerick Sierro (14th place) lost a good eleven seconds and Théo Gmür (17th) more than 13 seconds on Bugayev.
In the sitting class, Christophe Damas finished 13th in the slalom, almost 13 seconds behind the Dutch winner Jeroen Kampschreur. Pascal Christen was eliminated in the first run.
17th place over 20 km for Tavasci
Cross-country skier Luca Tavasci finished 17th in the 20-kilometer interval race in Tesero. The man from Graubünden, who was competing in his third Paralympic Games, lost around seven and a half minutes to the Chinese winner Wang Chenyang.
Tavasci was a good three minutes short of the top 10 result he was aiming for. The 32-year-old had also competed in the biathlon on the previous days, with 15th place in the 12.5 km individual race as his best result.
