Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez has reached the final of the Conference League with Betis Sevilla. Their opponents are Chelsea.
The second leg between Fiorentina and Betis Sevilla was only decided in extra time after the Italians had overturned the 2-1 deficit from the first leg in normal time. Substitute Abde Ezzalzouli scored the decisive 2:2 in the 97th minute. The Moroccan scored after a cross from the eye-catching Brazilian Antony in the penalty area.
The latter had given the visitors the lead in the 30th minute with a well-placed free kick. Ezzalzouli and Antony had already scored in the first leg. Ricardo Rodriguez was on the pitch for Betis for the entire match and put in a good performance.
It was thanks to Robin Gosens that the game went into extra time. The German full-back scored both goals for the home team. Both times he scored with his head after a corner kick (34th/42nd). Nevertheless, Fiorentina failed to reach the Conference League final for the third time in a row.
This is Betis Sevilla's first appearance in the final of a European competition. The Spaniards are the underdogs in the final in Wroclaw, Poland, on May 28. After their 4:1 win at Djurgarden Stockholm, Chelsea also lived up to their role as favourites in their home game and won 1:0, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scoring the goal (38').
