SPAIN. Sydney Schertenleib chose a special game for her first goal of the season. In the Clásico against Real Madrid, she came on as a substitute in the 89th minute and finally wrapped up the victory for FC Barcelona with her goal two minutes later to make it 3-0. The final score was 4:0.

ENGLAND. In the English Super League, Livia Peng made her first league appearance for Chelsea after two outings in the Champions League. With regular keeper Hannah Hampton struggling with an injury, the Swiss number 1 stood between the posts against Liverpool. The game ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.

FRANCE. Things are going well for Meriame Terchoun in Dijon at the moment. She already scored in the league at the beginning of November and has now also distinguished herself in the cup against Metz. As captain, Terchoun scored in the 70th minute to make it 3:1.

GERMANY. Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Swiss trio of Géraldine Reuteler, Noemi Ivelj and Nadine Riesen in the starting eleven, were in action in the Cup at the weekend. Reuteler scored twice in a 6-4 win against TSG Hoffenheim to help the team reach the quarter-finals. Naomi Luyet, who moved to Hoffenheim in the summer, was not in the squad.

ITALY. After Lia Wälti had said after Switzerland's international match against Canada in October that she was finally pain-free again after her lengthy injury, she had to be substituted after just 26 minutes for her club Juventus Turin on Sunday. Nevertheless, two minutes later the second Swiss player, Viola Calligaris, provided the assist for Juventus to make it 2-0.

MATCH OF THE WEEK. Eight goals were scored in the match between FC Thun and FC Zurich. While bottom-of-the-table Thun took the lead in the first half, Zurich were merciless, especially in the second half, and ultimately celebrated a clear 7:1 victory. Four goals were scored between the 74th and 84th minute, two of which were scored by captain Naomi Mégroz.

GOAL OF THE ROUND. Thanks to the 2:0 victory against FC St. Gallen, YB kept the eastern Swiss team at bay in the table. The second goal of the game came practically at the final whistle, in the 90th minute. Wibke Meister took a shot from around 20 meters out and hit it so precisely into the top right corner that goalkeeper Serena Proplesch was unable to stop it. It was Meister's second goal of the season.

RANKING. Servette continue to lead the table with a four-point advantage over GC, while the Zurich side are two ahead of the reigning champions from Bern on 22 points. They are followed closely by FCZ, Basel and St. Gallen. FC Aarau Women remain at the bottom of the table with three points and FC Thun with one point.

THE NEXT ROUND. Basel will face Rapperswil-Jona at home next week. FCRJ pulled off a coup at home at the start of the season, surprisingly beating Basel 2:0. St. Gallen will be looking to impress at home against Servette, who are unbeaten so far. In the match against GC, Thun will be looking to make up for their crushing defeat against FCZ.

Quote of the week

"The mentality was right today. We fought and at some point luck will be on our side," FC Aarau captain Michelle Stierli told SRF after the 1-0 defeat against FC Basel. Aarau are still waiting for their first win of the season.
