Servette are top of the table after the 27th round of the Super League. While Geneva won 3:1 in Zurich, Lucerne and Basel drew 1:1.
The Servettiens led the way on Sunday. Coach Thomas Häberli's team underlined their good form with their fifth win in a row. The visitors went into the break with a 2-0 lead, but had to tremble again after Zurich scored the second-half equalizer. In the end, Geneva, who are unbeaten in nine games this year, retained the upper hand.
FC Basel, who are level on points, were unable to follow suit in Lucerne. Although Bénie Traoré gave the visitors the lead with his first goal in four months, Basel were increasingly forced onto the defensive in the second half. This may also have been due to the fact that captain Xherdan Shaqiri had to be substituted at the break. Stefan Knezevic scored a deserved equalizer for the hosts in the 78th minute.
Meanwhile, Lugano's slide continues unabated. In Sion, they suffered their fifth defeat in a row in all competitions. After a 1-1 draw at the break, central defender Gora Diouf's goal in the 63rd minute caused jubilation for the Valais side and consternation for the Ticino side.
The top five teams in the Super League are now separated by two points each: Servette lead ahead of Basel, Lucerne, Lugano and Young Boys.
