The Swiss Football Association (SFA) is parting ways with U21 national team coach Sascha Stauch after around two and a half years.

The Swiss youth team finished third in the qualifiers for the 2027 European Championship finals after five games with two wins.

National team director Pierluigi Tami explained the decision in a communiqué: "The team needs new impetus in order to continue developing its performance and achieve its sporting goals in the long term." A new coach should "decisively strengthen" the team's development.

In the current qualifiers, the Swiss need to either win their group or at least finish second in order to secure a ticket to the European Championship via the play-offs. However, the team has fallen short of its own expectations in recent months. A new U21 coach should be in place by January 2026 at the latest.
