Like last weekend, FC Basel remain without a goal of their own and lose 1-0 at home to FC Lugano.

A brilliant counter-attack earned FC Lugano its second win in the second duel of the season with FC Basel. The strong Daniel Dos Santos carried the ball into the attack with a spurt across more than half the pitch and found Kevin Behrens with a perfectly timed pass. The German veteran scored for the fourth time this season.

Behrens has to share the title of match-winner. In Amir Saipi, there was a second Luganesi who was at least as important for the victory. The goalkeeper, making his first appearance in over two months - he came on for the injured David von Ballmoos - made an outstanding save, in particular a penalty from Xherdan Shaqiri shortly before the end of the first half-hour and a subsequent follow-up shot.

While Lugano recovered impressively from their poor start to the season with their fifth win in the last six games, FC Basel failed to score in two championship games in a row for the first time since September 2024. Last weekend, it drew goalless with Young Boys.

Basel did not lack the will and the necessary effort against Lugano. And there were one or two good chances to score, apart from the penalty given for a handball, but they were not taken. Substitute Albian Ajeti had the best chance in stoppage time after the 0:1, but shot over the goal from a very good position.
