Alpine skiing continues for the time being without the favorite to win the overall World Cup. Mikaela Shiffrin has to take a break due to her fall injuries.
As the US American announced, she will need "at least a few weeks" to be able to "withstand great forces" again. The 29-year-old suffered several bruises and a deep wound to her stomach in a fall in the Killington giant slalom on Saturday on the way to her 100th World Cup victory.
"I have a puncture wound and quite severe muscle trauma in the entire right area. I hope I can ski again soon," Shiffrin explained on social media.
