Spain are the first finalists in the Olympic football tournament. The Iberians turn around a deficit against Morocco and win 2:1.
The Spaniards struggled for a long time in Marseille. They only got into the game better in the second half. First Fermin Lopez equalized the score after 66 minutes, then Juanlu Sanchez, team-mate of Djibril Sow at Sevilla FC, scored the winner five minutes before the end. The Moroccans had taken the lead in the first half through a foul penalty converted by Soufiane Rahimi. In the closing stages, the North Africans missed several good opportunities to equalize, which was not undeserved.
Spain will be aiming for their second Olympic gold medal on Friday after winning at home in Barcelona in 1992. The Iberians have lost three times (1920, 2000, 2021) in the final.
Spain's opponents will be determined between France and Egypt from 21:00.
