The Ethiopian Athletics Federation has given the all-clear following the serious fall of steeplechase world record holder Lamecha Girma in the Olympic final.
The 23-year-old is fine, he did not suffer any injuries to his head or legs, the federation announced on Thursday.
Girma had taken a bad fall at the penultimate barrier around 200 m before the finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase final on Wednesday evening and remained motionless. The Ethiopian later had to be carried off on a stretcher. However, no serious injuries were found at the hospital.
