The Professional Women's Hockey League in North America starts its third season this weekend with two Swiss players.
Alongside Alina Müller, Nicole Vallario is the second Swiss player to join one of the eight teams. The 24-year-old from Ticino, who started the season with EV Zug, was able to secure a place in the 23-strong squad at the New York Sirens' preparation camp.
Alina Müller has been a regular member of the Boston Fleet since the North American professional ice hockey league was founded two years ago. The Winterthur forward has risen to assistant captain in her team.
"Alina brings a passion that shows her deep love for the game and her connection to Boston," says her coach Kris Sparre about the youngest Swiss medal winner of all time at the Winter Games. "She exemplifies professionalism every day and is the kind of leader our players can look up to."
Müller will start the season on Sunday (7 p.m. Swiss time) with Boston against the team from Montreal. Vallario will make her debut in the PWHL the night before. She will travel to Ottawa with the New York Sirens.
