The Swiss women are well behind after the first run of the World Cup giant slalom in Copper Mountain. Camille Rast is best, losing almost 1.3 seconds to the half-time leader Alice Robinson.
The New Zealander Robinson leads the second giant slalom of the winter by 0.29 seconds ahead of the Swedish Olympic champion Sara Hector after half of the race. Austria's Julia Scheib, who claimed her first World Cup victory in Sölden at the end of October, follows in third place, six tenths of a second behind.
Camille Rast took a cautious approach to the race in Copper Mountain. By the time she reached the finish, the Valais skier was 1.26 seconds behind. She finished in 10th place after 30 racers had started.
Wendy Holdener lost half a second more than her teammate in 19th place to leader Alice Robinson, who has won four giant slaloms in the World Cup so far.
With Vanessa Kasper, Sue Piller and Simone Wild, three Swiss women with higher numbers are still waiting to start in the US state of Colorado.
